“NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios.

Mortal Kombat X will hit consoles and PC on April 15th. Once launched, players who own the forthcoming console or PC versions of the game will be able to unlock content in the mobile game and vice versa  by signing up for a WB Play account and completing tasks and achievements within each version.

Check out the official mobile announcement trailer:

Mortal Kombat X will be a hybrid of platforms, as well as playing styles; with card collecting, fighting and multiplayer team combat. In addition, NetherRealm promises new characters, “shocking” fatalities, x-rays and more.

Set 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat (2011), Mortal Kombat X brings new characters to battle over a powerful amulet; but can they come together as a team, or tear each other apart…um…literally?

I love the Mortal Kombat movies! And the soundtrack to the first movie is one of my all-time favorites.

Man, good times playing this game over the years…remember the movies? They were actually pretty good! Same director that did the Resident Evil films.
