Studio Wildcard, an independent development studio based in Seattle, WA, has unveiled a truly Jurassic creation! ARK: Survival Evolved is an open-world dinosaur survival game, putting a unique spin on the genre with multiplayer elements focused on both cooperation and competition. Players begin with nothing, waking up naked and starving among a herd of other confused humans on the shore of a mysterious island called ARK. To survive, you will have to harvest, craft tools, hunt, research technology, and build shelters in order to save yourself from the volatile weather systems, dangerous wildlife, and even potential enemies.
Adventure through persistent ecosystems on land, sea, air, and even underground. In-depth roleplaying systems will guide you through building your character’s strengths, gaining items and essential skills, and even collecting pet creatures. Experience the unique twist that ARK takes on the genre, joining forces with other players to start a tribe to ensure your survival, or teaming up to take down a competing tribe.
Hooked already? We haven’t even gotten to the best part! ARK is brimming with dinosaurs and other ancient creatures, some so gargantuan that they’re on a scale never before seen in video games. Fly a squadron of Pterodactyls over icy mountains, race a pack of tamed Raptors through deep jungle, or ride on the back of a raging T-Rex to chase down prey.
Jesse Rapczak, co-founder and co-creative director of Studio Wildcard, says “ARK taps into the scale, size, and wildly unpredictable nature of the dinosaur eras like no other game before it, then pairs it with the wonders of exploration and technological discovery.” He continues, saying “We’re particularly excited to bring ARK to consoles, as open-world survival gameplay is typically found solely in PC games.”
