Posted on by Brittin Kellar

Square Enix gave fans a very special treat at PlayStation Experience 2015: a gameplay trailer for the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake. The soundtrack is immediately familiar and powerful, setting the scene for the beautiful visuals that await. If the musical themes gave you chills back when you played the original, then prepare to relive that experience on a whole new level. Cloud and his companions look better than ever, the signature spikes giving even more attitude to the famous protagonist. This trailer focuses on the beginning of the legendary adventure, a re-introduction into the breathtaking world.

We get a better look at the screenshots released during the original announcement, seeing them live, breathe, and move. But that’s not all that’s new! It looks as though Final Fantasy VII Remake will be adopting an action-rpg combat system similar to that used in other recent Final Fantasy releases. This is a drastic move away from the turn-based combat of the original, and one that might be divisive among some fans. Combat looks like it will be fluid and fast-paced, a truly fresh take on the original that spells out big promises.

If you weren’t excited for this remake before, Square Enix is giving you two minutes worth of reasons to change your mind. Check out the trailer below to see for yourself!

That looks really cool! Also, Pyramid Head likes his sword. 😉
