RPG Tycoon Launches on the Steam Store

Posted on by Brittin Kellar

There’s a brand new take on the classic tycoon gameplay, with RPG Tycoon available today on the Steam Store. It was launched by Skatanic Studios, a one man game development operation headed by Matt Gambell. His solo effort has created a mixture of the RPG and tycoon genres, giving players access to a unique experience to compete for the title of ‘Greatest Kingdom in All the Land.’

Starting from practically nothing, players have access to a single plot of land and just enough money to hire their first hero. There are over 30 Quick Quests and 60 Epic Quests for your heroes to complete while you build up your kingdom. Completing quests will increase the kingdom’s fame, drawing settlers from nearby villages to spend money at the shops and on available services to keep a steady flow of gold so that the kingdom can continue to expand. But the coins only flow when the visitors are happy, so it’s important to strike a balance between form and function; don’t neglect those trees and decorative items, because who doesn’t love fountains?

And of course, you can’t forget about the competition! AI governed kingdoms will also be growing alongside you, doing their best to draw the attention of the settlers away from your growing village. Aim for ever-higher scores to make sure that you come out on top, proving once and for all that you really are the Greatest Kingdom.

Matt Gambell has made the game easy and open to mods, allowing people to create new buildings, heroes, quests, or items, and to share them with the entire player community.

RPG Tycoon is available now on Steam for the incredibly low price of only $10. But if you hurry, you can grab it for 10% off! A special promotion gives you the chance to nab the game for only $8.99, but that offer ends on February 19th, so don’t wait too long.

Can’t wait to get your hands on this exciting genre-mashing game? Grab it from the Steam Store! And as always, don’t forget to let us know what you think in the comments below!
